Meat Inspection

Status of current operations

There are currently 25 livestock slaughterhouses and 33 poultry slaughterhouses under this Branch’s jurisdiction. For affairs concerning Meat Inspection, the National Animal Industry Foundation has been commissioned to employ veterinarians in conducting inspections according to the Requirements for Slaughter Operation and Rules for Meat Inspection. The duties of this Branch are to direct the veterinary meat inspector to be stationed at the various slaughterhouses, and to manage and inspect these slaughterhouses.
 

Operational Jurisdiction

  • Supervise meat inspection.
  • Supervise and conduct inspection of slaughterhouse facilities and the slaughtering processes.
  • Accept applications for meat inspection of slaughterhouses and related affairs.
  • Supervise the disposal of wastes such as carcasses and viscera.
  • Assist in stopping illegal slaughter.
  • Other associated meat inspection affairs.
