The Taichung Harbor Inspection Station, one of the four inspection stations of Taichung Branch, executes inspection of animals, animal products, plant and plant products imported through Taichung Harbor region by vessels, containers and passengers to prevent any invasion of animal and plant diseases/pests.

Meanwhile, the station executes inspection and fumigation of animal products (e.g. feathers) and plant products (e.g. milled rice, rice straw decoration, wooden pallets) exported to other countries or areas, and also execute inspection of the import/export pets, meat products, plant and plant products brought by passengers.

Fumigation treatment is one of our major work. The fumigation facility is located on the north area of Taichung Harbor, including five large fumigation chambers used for 40-feet container under the control of an automatic fumigation system. It also has two small fumigation rooms with 72.7 and 10.8 square meters space for less than container load (LCL) of animal/plant products.

The fumigation treatment is necessary under the situations that injurious or quarantine diseases/pests are found on imported plant and its products or the applicants fail to conform to our plant quarantine regulations. The station also provides the service for exported animals, plants and their products as requested by exporters to meet the regulations of importing country/area.
