Draft Amendment on Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Dog and Cat Food

Details:
The draft amendments include two requirements as follows:
Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Dog and Cat Food:
a. Definition of "dog and cat food" is amended to encompass animal origin rawhide pet chew; some low risk materials are exempt from the quarantine requirements. (Article 1)
b. Risk mitigation measures for BSE are amended in accordance with OIE guidelines. (Article 5)
c. Risk mitigation measures pertaining to other animal diseases are confined to only susceptible animals.
d. Accept more heat treatment conditions for products from animal diseases-infected countries (zones). (Article 4)
e. Whether or not to conduct an on-site inspection for the manufacturing plant is determined on a case-by-case basis, compared to the current regulation in which on-site inspection is mandatory. (Article 4 and 5)
