The division handles inspection and
quarantine for the importation and exportation of animals and animal products,
as well as the establishment and revision of quarantine laws, regulations and
related measures. It also assists in the promotion of international markets for
animal products. Another role of the division is the dispatching officials to
foreign countries to carry out on-site inspection on the control of animal
disease and quarantine operations for exports. In addition, it participates in
animal quarantine technical consultations and meetings to resolve animal
quarantine related issues and problems. Furthermore, it develops animal quarantine
and treatment technologies to facilitate the expansion of exporting markets for
animal products. Lastly, the division carries out research and development and the
introduction of animal quarantine technologies for the promotion of quarantine
effectiveness.
