The division is in charge of planning,
promotion and supervision of the programs related to monitoring and management
of plant pests in order to safeguard domestic agriculture. It is also
responsible for inspecting designated diseases and pests associated with
propagated plant materials. In addition, it enforces and supervises inspection
of designated diseases and pests associated with propagated plant materials.
Furthermore, it aims to strengthen research on pest identification, monitoring
and management. Another role that it has is conducting programs on plant pest
prevention and the eradication and promotion of coordinated and emergent
management programs on the important diseases and pests. Because the division
is responsible for strengthening research on pest identification, monitoring
and management, it strives to develop new technologies to improve integrated
pest management programs. Last of all,
it promotes and supervises the demonstration, extension and application of the
technologies relating to plant protection with emphasis on non-chemical control
measures in order to promote export of agricultural products.
